Answer: Introduction This research article is very interesting and informative for a nursing student and provides useful knowledge that could be used in future clinical practices. Unrelieved post operative pain is a problem that despite numerous advances in pain management still is quite common(Allred, 2010). The very first line of the research article suggests a reasonable evidence for future research in music therapy being used for relieving post operative pains. In this quantitative article a positive paradigm is implied and deductive reasoning is used to test the hypothesis. Literature Review The literature review shows that there are no gaps in the literature but it never supports the need for this study. In this study the literature review provides the databases such as CINAHL and The Cochrane Library that were used in the previous researches that were done in between 2007-2012. It is quite up to date. Some primary sources are used in the study with the use of referencing tools that are used to test procedures that are used in this research article. The search criteria also included only 2007-2012 articles(Lin, 2011)(Pyati, 2007)(Tse, 2005). This quantitative study stated the use of (RBC) relationship based care delivery model to support the study. In this article the three relationships in relationship based care delivery are explained. These relationships are care of colleagues, care of patients and families and care of self. The model is briefly explained to the readers. This model seems to be appropriate for the solving of the research problem as complementary music therapy belongs to the category of care of patients and families in the relationships based care model(Vaajoki, 2011). The RBC model and the hypothesis are not closely related. The concepts that are used in the study are quite consistent with the category to which the care of patients and families belong. In this article the operational definitions are quite consistent to the definition of care. The researchers never once referred back to the RBC model later in the study though according to the findings we can imply that they should have referred it. Ther efore we can denote that the RBC model is there to support this research and not to guide this research process. (Vaajoki, 2013) Aim and Hypothesis The aim of the study is to determine the effect of music therapy on environmental noise perception, state of anxiety and postoperative pain. The research hypothesis and purpose statement is identifying the specified population and variables for research study. Hypothesis and purpose is properly stated and many previous studies were found to support the hypothesis. This hypothesis is not a null hypothesis therefore it is implied but not stated. Methods The study by Comeaux and Steele Moses provides information about the sample and design along with the tools and measurements that were used for the data analysis. Sampling The participants of the study were all postoperative patients that were admitted to the surgical unit of the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC). The eligibility criteria that were used included a 3 day hospital stay; the patient has to be oriented and alert. The age of the patients participating should be higher than 18. They should be able to speak and write English and should have hematology-oncology diagnosis(Heidari, 2015). According to the study the patients were assigned groups instead of being chosen randomly. The research article does not state explicitly about the type of sampling design that was used but it does suggest that it has a consecutive sampling. When randomization is not possible consecutive sampling is a better choice. The reasoning for the sample that was collected from an ongoing larger study needs the testing of feasibility and efficacy. As the small size of the sample being taken from a larger study does not support statistical conclusion validity. It was suggested in the study that future studies should be replicated with large sample size and different participant population. These changes will validate the findings. (Nightingale, 2013),(Selvendran, 2015),(Hudson, 2015),(Tan, 2015),(Bradt, 2015) The research article did include some limitations that could result in weakness and sample bias. Data that was collected by the use of questionnaires showed that the questionnaires were tedious and repetitive. The answers of some questions clearly showed that some participants got irritated and upset by the questions. Race and gender were the key characters that were identified in this study along with the variables such as environmental noise satisfaction, anxiety stress and pain management satisfaction. The sample is limited to supporting postoperative patients that were meeting the inclusion criteria therefore generalizability could only be supported if the study was repeated with a different sample population of larger numbers. The data was collected by self reports in the form of questionnaires that were called State Trait Anxiety Inventory questionnaires. These questionnaires had 4 point scale called Likert Scale that was split in half in two forms. This 4 point scale was also used to measure patients environmental noise satisfaction level and patients pain management satisfaction. This method works best for the dependent variables measurement. The self report method adopted by the researchers was adequate only when the scales and forms collected relevant data from the participants. Design In design of the research is Quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design . The research question was only a therapy question as the randomized controlled trials were not used. Two groups were used one was an intervention group and the other was a control group. The strategy used to compare was effective in highlighting the relationship between patients outcomes and complementary music therapy. The intervention was accurately and clearly stated in the research article. It was clearly implied that the daily clinical staff were used as data collectors and were blinded to collect the completed packets. The patient was made aware of the research procedure by the clinical support team and therefore proper intervention fidelity was followed. The clinical support team consisted of direct care nurse, clinical research, clinical educator, specialist and program director for nursing research. (Kligler, 2016) The study was done as a longitudinal study and the first day was stated as (TIME 1 ) of the study was the day of enrollment or the first postoperative day. TIME 2 was the second postoperative day followed by TIME 3. After TIME 3 it was found that usually the patient was either discharged or transferred and it was also noted that the patient was unrelieved by the post operative pain. As a pilot study a sample of 41 participants were used that enhanced the statistical conclusion validity. The dependent variables were statistically tested by Likert Scale and State Trait Anxiety Inventory. These steps ensured that the statistical conclusion validity of the study was protected. One flaw in the research design was that it had no control on the transfer or discharge of the patients therefore a patient outcomes can be affected by rival explanation. As the length of the study was only 2-3 days many concurrent events can give rise to internal validity issues such as partial completion of quest ionnaire while discharging or early discharge. Issues can also be caused by the fact that the study was not randomized. The external validity of the study is at question as many external factors such as medications taken by the patient to reduce pain were never considered. Only causal interference was drawn by the study in the relationship between the dependent and the independent variables. (Krishnaswamy, 2016) Numerous limitations were present such as not assigning patients randomly, patients who were present in control group could also listen to music and medications used by the patients were not monitored. It is quite possible that these limitations could have affected the patients outcomes and affected the studys validity. Therefore even when the study is acknowledging the limitations a much larger study is needed to be conducted to validate the findings. Instruments/Measurements Environmental noise and pain satisfaction was measured by two standardized tests by Likert scale and State Anxiety Inventory questionnaires were also given to the participants. The measurements tools that were used were reliable as they were used extensively in many other studies. The reliability of the scores coming from the Likert scale was adequate and the readings were above the 0.7 mark. The STAI questionnaire reliability was cited by another research article. Internal consistency was found on the Y 2 STAI questionnaire whereas the Y1 form was consistent for the 0.7 reading mark. Internal consistency, no measurements of validity for the measurement tools and low reliability are some points that do not support the hypothesis. The tests of the measurement tools were not used or not stated in the study. Data Analysis Descriptive statistics were used to summarize sample demographic characteristics. These characteristics included race, and gender. To calculate the mean differences in the group a paired T test was used, whereas the analysis between the groups was done by an independent T test. The statistics were correct and major variables were described in the study. In the study the T test was the inferential statistic. The use of parameter estimation was never supported by a confidence interval only hypothesis testing information was provided. Risk indexes and effect sizes were not included in the research article. The missing statistical information yields support for null hypothesis. The report yielded very less information about the evidence that can support the study. The chances of Type 2 error are plausible due to the minimal use of statistics to validate statistical information. (Hoareau, 2016) Results The findings of the study were organised but were not explained fully for the readers. This insufficient explanation is not enough for readers to understand statistical significance. The tables that are given have appropriate headings and are summarized with huge amount of statistical data. Many tables are hard to understand and interpret without knowing the significance of the given symbols. The article explains statistical significance partially which is not enough to support the conclusion. Discussion The results seems to support the hypothesis partially as we can see in the evidence provided that at TIME 1 measurement participants reportedly were only little satisfied with the pain management from the past twenty four hours which clearly suggests that the participants were not satisfied with the care standard of the hospital. We can also note that at TIME 1 the control group reported to have higher environmental noise satisfaction than the intervention group in which the music was being played. Another reason to believe that the results supported the hypothesis partially was when the two groups difference at TIME 2 in case of instate anxiety was not significant. Which clearly showed that complementary music therapy had effect only on the patients environmental noise satisfaction and pain management while instate anxiety remained unchanged. This study included recommendations for future studies, nursing implications and limitations of this study. The implications included how effe ctively their findings could be implemented. Limitations included the bias and the factors that affected their results. Limitations The limitations that were evident in the study at first were lack of proper literature review. After endless hours of internet searching for the job that would best suit me, I discovered a Christian summer camp that was very much a place that would cease to leave my mind for the next few days. Days passed by and prayers were sent up when I finally came to realize that this was the job I needed. Working at a Christian summer camp would be a great job for any young person because it is a way to spread God’s word with young girls, push limits and set new goals, and it exposes the counselor to see what teachers and educators face on a day to day basis. God’s word always needs to be shared with everyone but more especially to the youth. God has always been a huge part of my everyday life. Finding a place where I would be able to share this joy was a priority I had. Camp Skyline was undeniably the place for that. Each night we would sit around a campfire just to hear the songs of the praises to God’s word. Voices as sweet and soft as honey would travel through the mountain air as if a bee on a summer day. Beneath that sound would be the faint crackling of the fire that blazed before us and faintly gave light to each face. On Sundays we had â€Å"Skyline Church.† Everyone was to wear pure white on this day. Upon entering church I would see girls of all ages running around in white dresses that were catered to fit each of the hundreds of girls. During those next few hours praises would be lifted and hearts would be led to God as if a lost child in a store searching for a parent that would soon be recovered. Some knew where they were being led while others only knew of the joy that was overtaking the friends around them. Blessings would overflow in my heart  after seeing such tiny innocence find something that would forever change every life that heard His call. Pushing limits and setting new goals is a necessity to being a successful person. Challenging myself to step out of my comfort zone was definitely an ambition I had for the summer. My first class to assist in would be ropes. There I would send girls off of zip lines, unusually high swings, and belay girls to their destination at the top of the trees. The smell of sap growing on these large oak trees began to surround me as if cake escaping a bakery and surrounding the streets. My heart sank as I was assigned to be in the tree to send the girls off of the zip line. As I was creeping my way up this never ending oak tree I realized that this is the adventure I had wanted. Capturing the top, I looked out to see the sun gleaming down and beautiful blue skies surrounding as if God himself had spent His morning painting that moment for me. Girls began to climb up and jump off with fright not being a possibility of thought. To my astonishment, panic had left my mind as well and peace had taken the place of that. By the end of those hours, I was just as eager to jump out of that tree only to be caught by a thin cable attached to black rope like a dog on a leash. Teaching is very much underestimated much like being a camp counselor can be as well. Teaching is a desire that I have had for as long as I can remember. Being a summer counselor is very much like being a teacher in many ways. This job consists of continuous hours of helping children obtain a goal they have set for themselves and sometimes just being that comforting hand in a time of need. Encouragement and perseverance are the keys to succeeding in this job. When I walked around camp I could feel the desperation of achieving a task creeping through the air as if a robber in a bank. Much like teaching, counselors must give the reassurance that many children search for to help them succeed. â€Å"You can do it!† is a phrase that is heard often throughout these wide open spaces. Nights are spent making sure they have enough sleep to help them be able to make it through the rest of camp while also allowing them to have fun during the experience. Waking up to find a girl standing over your bed saying she is sick is not a rare occurrence. Drama among the girls, cleanliness, sleepless nights, and being whatever support a girl needs in that moment can sometimes be challenging. Nonetheless rewarding life lessons can still be learned in moments such as these. A job like this me a whole new appreciation for the people who are willing to spend endless hours with children like a teacher does on a day to day basis. In closing, working at a Christian summer camp would be a great job for any young person because it is a way to spread God’s word with young girls, new limits will be set, and it exposes the counselor to see what teachers and educators face on a day to day basis. I recovered all of the goals I had set for myself for the same and was able to make new goals out of the experience as well. When leaving time came I had too many stories to be able to repeat and new standards set for myself to take home. My heart remains overjoyed today when I look back on the experiences I had. Smelling a strong odor can always take me back to the endless scent of dirty Chaco’s. Campers leave with dirty laundry and a stream of tears to follow for they dread seeing leaving day arrive. The company complained that Encik Pokok’s application for leave was only received by Encik Bunga on the 26th November 1996. The leave application was not approved because it was not following the company procedure and secondly, reasonable excuse was not given. Encik Pokok was dismissed without internal inquiry done. Encik Pokok claimed that he had submitted his leave application on the 23rd November 1996. His application was pass to his friend to be given to his supervisor, Encik Daun. He assumed that his leave application was authorized. Encik Pokok said that he went to the Pejabat Kadi on the 23rd November 1996 to settle his sister in law’s case and the next two days, to celebrate their engagement. For the 26th November 1996, he claimed he went to the labour office in Temerloh with his friend. Due to fatigue, he did not go to work. He made a verbal leave application to the company through one of the company’s officers who was available at that time. Encik Pokok claimed that he was unlawfully terminated. He complained that internal inquiry had to be done prior to his termination because it violates Section 14 of the Employment Act 1955 and Item 35 of the joint agreement. Power to make awards 35. —(1) A Court shall have power in relation to a trade dispute of which it has cognizance to make an award (including an interim award) relating to all or any of the industrial matters in dispute. (1A) A Court shall not consider a dispute relating to the dismissal of an employee or make an award relating to the reinstatement of an employee except in circumstances arising out of a contravention of section 82. 2) Notwithstanding subsection (1A), where an employee considers that he has been dismissed without just cause or excuse by his employer, in circumstances other than those arising out of a contravention of section 82, he may, within one month of such dismissal, make, through his trade union, representations in writing to the Minister to be reinstated in his former employment (3) The M inister may, before making decision on any such representations, by writing under his hand request the Commissioner to inquire into the dismissal and report whether in his opinion the dismissal is without just cause or excuse instated in his former employment. (4) The Minister, if he decides to deal with the representations himself, shall before making a decision thereon give an opportunity to the employer to make representations in writing as to the reasons why he considered the dismissal of the employee to be justified. 5) If, after considering the representations of the trade union and of the employer (if any) and any report made by the Commissioner under subsection (3), the Minister is satisfied that the employee has been dismissed without just cause or excuse he may, notwithstanding any rule of law or agreement to the contrary — (a) direct the employer to reinstate the employee in his former employment and to pay the employee an amount that is equivalent to the wages that the employee would have earned had he not been dismissed by the employer; or (b) direct the employer to pay such amount of wages as compensation as may be determined by the Minister. 5A) The employer shall comply with the direction of the Minister under subsec tion (5). (6) The decision of the Minister on any representations made under this section shall be final and conclusive and shall not be challenged in any court or in a Court established under this Act. 7) Any direction by the Minister under subsection (5) shall operate as a bar to any action for damages by the employee in any court in respect of the wrongful dismissal (8) An employer who fails to comply with the direction of the Minister under subsection (5) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a District Court to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or to both. 9) Where an amount to be paid under subsection (5) is not paid in accordance with the direction of the Minister and the employer has been convicted of an offence under subsection (8), the amount, or so much thereof as remains unpaid, shall be recoverable by a District Court as if it were a fine and the amount so recovered shall be paid to the employe e entitled under the direction. Answer: As the defending lawyer, the Company did not make a correct decision in terminating Encik Pokok. The reason is because Encik Pokok has attempted to inform the Company by submitting the leave application form to Encik Daud through his friend on 23rd Nov 1996. Encik Pokok also made a verbal application for leave on the 26th November 1996 through a company official on duty at that time. This would mean that technically he was not absent for more than two consecutive days. Therefore ; According to Employment Act 1955, section 15(2), An employee shall be deemed to have broken his contract of service with the employer if he has been continuously absent from work for more than two consecutive working days without prior leave from his employer, unless he has a reasonable excuse for such absence and has informed or attempted to inform his employer of such excuse prior to or at the earliest opportunity during such absence. The Company also failed to conduct a domestic inquiry to give Encik Pokok a chance to defend himself and offer reasonable excuse why he failed to turn up for work. Therefore Section 14(1) of the Employment Act applies. According to Employment Act 1955 section 14(1), An employer may, on the grounds of misconduct inconsistent with the fulfillment of the express or implied condition of his service, after a due inquiry – (a) Dismiss without notice the employee; Habitual absenteeism (of less than two days at a time but on a frequent basis) would be defined as unauthorized absence from work on a certain number of days per month over a 6 month period. Initially warnings would be given, but if the absence persists, the employee may face dismissal. The failure to be punctual would be treated the same way as habitual absenteeism. In this case, the company failed to show whether Encik Pokok is a habitual absentee by not producing historical records of his attendance. However reported cases show that a breach of contract and termination are dealt as separate issues. As such a breach of contract may not lead to an automatic termination of employment. The consequence of such a breach would depend on the conditions of employment. Conclusion Encik Pokok was a victim of wrongful dismissal and the company must reinstate him immediately. The company has the right to issue written warning for the 24th and 25th November 1996 for unauthorized leave. Question 3 (b) You are defending lawyer for the Company. Has the Company made a correct decision in terminating Mr. Good . Discuss? At the domestic inquiry, the employer will present its case and the employee is given an equal opportunity to defend himself against the charges of misconduct. It is made of three tiny particles that called subatomic particles which is protons, neutrons, and electrons. The center of the atom, called nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons. Every single thing in this world is made up of matter include our bodies. Chemistry is relating to everything in life and it is a large branch that needed by everyone. Not only doctor, but the dentist, pharmacist, nurse, geologist, and others need chemistry too. Chemistry can be divided into five main branches which are very wide in the application of life. The first is analytical chemistry which discusses uses qualitative and quantitative observation to identify and measure the physical and chemical properties of substances. In fact, all chemistry is analytical chemistry. Secondly is physical chemistry. As we know, physical chemistry is discussed physics combine with chemistry. Its about how matter can interact with energy. The important things in this topics are thermodynamics and quantum mechanics. The third branch of chemistry is organic chemistry which studies in compounds that contains carbon element. Carbon has many unique properties that allow it to form complex chemical bonds and very large molecules. Inorganic chemistry studies a materials such gases and metals that do not contain carbon as part of their make up. Last but not least is biochemistry is study of chemical processes that occur between organisms. Try to imagine the world without chemistry.

Natorp on Social Education: A Paideia for all Ages ABSTRACT: In Man and his Circumstances: Ortega as Educator, Robert McClintock says that American educators have forgotten about the influence of Natorp. This essay proposes to discuss Natorp's Platonic and Neo-Kantian view of the human being and of knowledge as a foundation to all education. It will examine the influence of Friedrich Schleiermacher, the distinguished German philosopher, and of the great Swiss educator, Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, on Natorp's ideas. In Natorp's view of Socialpadagogik (Social Education), it is not possible to have any positive social or political change without great alterations in educational philosophy. The work of the American educator, Robert Hutchins, will be discussed and defended as an exemplary attempt in the practice of higher education of these ideals. Although Hutchin's programs were adapted for only a short time by the University of Chicago and by a few small liberal arts colleges, his influence, as well as that of American disciples of Na torp and Pestalozzi, still has lasting value, since it is based on the idea that we are all souls in development. Paul Natorp's several important works on the philosophy of education, such as Pestalozzi: Sein Leben und seine Ideen, (1) are grounded in his Neo-Kantian epistemology. The post 1900 Natorp expanded his theory of knowledge from the purely Neo-Kantian idea that the Ding an Sich and the noumenal world were not only unknowable but also could not even be posited as existing. He expanded it to include the idea that the Ding an Sich is the "X" at the borders of the known which always moves into the unknown. As Natorp puts it in his own words, "Erkenntnis ist nicht stillstand, sondern ewiger Fortgang." (2) (Knowlege is not standing still, but is eternal movement.) Our experience builds on itself. Each individual must be treated as a living soul constantly building on experience in life (Erlebnis). Science is not the only criterion for knowledge, but the philosophical examination of the growth or degradation of the soul becomes the standard. In this sense, Natorp is a Neo-Platonist, because h e does not see limits to the possibilities of the soul. However, he never actually speaks of metempsychosis. This idea is noumenal. Finally, Natorp's view of religion is essential here. Religion is also not knowledge, but it is a repository of the rules of moral behavior which should, nevertheless, be determined by reason.

Going to school can offer many experiences. We are taught that we should do well in school so we can graduate, continue on to college, and from there have a job. But what if we went to college where the scholastic dream meant more than just attending your typical classes? What if you not only found yourself, but you found your spiritual path as well? Looking at colleges and finding the right one that offers what you need to succeed after graduation can be a time-consuming task. There are many colleges now, and they all offer something different. Times have changed so much that we can now attend college online. When reading Arthur F. Holmes book, The idea of a Christian College the four main themes I found were; understanding the student life, how liberal arts applies to life, how a Christian college can inspire other parts of your education and the results of education with Christian liberal arts. College Life as a Student According to Arthur F. Holmes’ book The Idea of a Christian College, many young people attend college or university, and their parents encourage them, without any gripping sense of what college is all about, beyond tentative vocational goals or questionable social aspirations. (Holmes pg 3) Many students are attending college because they have been programmed that way. They show up for class day in and day out, not very sure of the purpose or meaning behind it all. College students in this economy need to have a college education to get a job. Most students become misguided by outside influences of college life and end up partying away their tuition money. The  social scene becomes more important when the focus is lost. There is a lot of stress put on a new college student from the beginning of the registration process all the way to the classroom. So how do you choose the school and stay on track for success? Looking into a Christian college, you might think, â€Å"Why choose a Christian college over a secular college?† Its distinctive atmosphere should support an education that cultivates the creative and active integration of faith and learning, of faith and culture. (Holmes pg 6). With the idea of a Christian college, we have God-given, God-preserved, God-restorable potential, a potential to be developed, disciplined, and invested in response to God. In a Christian college gaining our education, we are more than just becoming the future job; we are already molded and placed here for a reason, a reason that God knows and one we journey for self discovery. If we do not work on the entire being while we are expanding our minds and stretching the muscle, then how do we expect to become that person that God has placed us here for. We need to not only focus on our education but on the entire being from the spirit within. Why doesn’t this all come easily since we are all made in God’s image? It’s because we are all human and given free will. The foundation of the theological mandate for Christian involvement in higher education can be focused on four concepts: creation, the human person, truth, and the culture mandate. (Holmes pg 13) Following what God’s will has for us and not to misuse them, value what he has given to us. Truth, if we confess that God is, the all-wise Creator of all, then he has perfect knowledge of everything we ever sought to know or do. All truth is God’s truth, wherever it may be found. (Holmes pg 17) Liberal Arts Liberal art teaches you to think. We are taught many things in our education that may not have anything to do with our career directly. These other classes allow our minds to grow and stretch in all areas of real life. Vocations and jobs are made for people, not people for vocations and jobs. The question to ask about an education is not â€Å"what can I do with it?† but  rather â€Å"what is it doing to me as a person?† (Holmes pg 25) When we go off to college, we are going with fresh minds to be taught and molded into our future career. Liberal education is an open invitation to join the human race and become more fully human. (Holmes pg 35) Understanding liberal arts and how the purpose of it will enrich our lives further within our career goals is very helpful in succeeding in the world. The most embracing contact between Christianity and human learning is the all-encompassing world and life view. The contemporary university tends to concentrate on the parts rather than the whole and to come away with a fragmented view of life that lacks overall meaning. (Holmes pg 57) The Result of an Educated Person What would a well-rounded, educated person look like, be like, and know? To train specifically for just one job and not allow yourself the freedom to educate your whole being will only limit you in the future. To cover and explore a range of capacities that help you feel part of a whole human race, develop yourself — not just into a farmer or a physician or a businessman, but as a human being. Be reflective and moral in everything you do. Become a thoroughly responsible agent; that is the mark of an educated person. (Holmes pg 101) Fostering morals and virtues, believing in the quality of life, and applying those in our education, as well and learning from our experiences will enlighten us as humans. Taking the gifts that God has given to us and by his freeing us from the bondage of sin, we move forward with realistic hope. Faith, love, and hope bring to life purposefulness, expectations, and humility. (Holmes pg 102) After reading this book I have found that there is much more to having an education. I have focused my attention on just one thing — becoming a nurse. My life experience of working in the hospital is to have core values such as understanding, honesty, faith, and openness. When Arthur Holmes writes â€Å"Not just verbal skills and powers of communication but grace and eloquence therein as well, the ability to say the right thing in the right way at the right time,† it reminds me of my blessings. (Holmes pg 103). If  we put god first in our lives everything else will fall into place for us such as, work and school. By going to a Christian college I found I am learning how to educate my spirit.
